About

Rachel Payne is an Associate Attorney at Kantaras Law and supports the family law team. Prior to joining Kantaras Law, Rachel served as an assistant public defender in the Office of the Public Defender, 13^th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

As an assistant public defender, Rachel worked in various capacities which gave her a well-rounded background of the legal system, helped her gain confidence in the courtroom and instilled a deep empathy for those going through the worst moments of their lives. She chaired jury trials, spent time in multiple divisions, such as County Misdemeanor, Traffic and Juvenile. She has experience researching and writing motions, as well as training new attorneys.

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida and her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law.

In her free time, Rachel spends time with her family, reading or crafting.
